Porsche has a huge number of alphanumeric trim designations that it uses to show off its different cars and SUVs. These designations range from S to 4S to GTS to GT4 and can be found on the backs of its cars and SUVs. 2023 is when a four-door model for the first time gets one of those designations, T, which stands for Touring. The 2023 Porsche Macan T is the first time that T has been used on a model.
The Macan T is between the base Macan and the mid-range Macan S. It has the same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine as the entry-level Macan, which makes 261 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque through a standard seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission.
0 to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds and 144mph top speed are claimed by the German car company. If you want to get even faster, you can buy a Sport Chrono Package that comes with this T. Speedy cars like the Macan Turbo, which can go from 0 to 60 mph in about 3.5 seconds, are much more powerful, though.
Even though the Macan T has a lot of power in the middle range, it looks like it will be a good driver. Because the Macan is so small, it’s always been one of the best-handling SUVs in the world. For example, the 2023 Macan T has standard Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), T-specific antiroll bars, and less than 130 pounds on the front axle compared with V6-powered models. Even without the optional torque vectoring and air suspension, the Macan T should still be fun to drive.
In terms of fuel efficiency, Porsche hasn’t released numbers for the T, but because the two cars are mechanically similar, it’s safe to say they won’t be very different. The base Macan gets 19 miles per gallon city, 25 miles per gallon on the highway, and 21 miles per gallon combined from the EPA.
There’s also a 2023 Macan T badge on its liftgate, but you can also tell it apart from other cars on the road because of its dark titanium-finish Macan S design 20-inch wheels and gray mirrors, slats, and front fascia trim. (We’re not sure how well the lighter-colored model in these photos would look with the darker paint on her body.)
There is a heated steering wheel on the inside of the Macan T. It also comes with unique Sport-Tex stripes on its standard eight-way power seats. With silver stitching and black-aluminum Macan T sill plates to finish off the changes in the cabin, this is how it looks.
Until now, Porsche hasn’t said how much the T will cost. A starting price of around $60,000 would split the prices of the range’s closest models.
